International Child Abduction

If you are served with (or anticipate being served with) an order to return your children to the jurisdiction that you came from, then you need to seek immediate legal advice.

Removing your children from this jurisdiction without the consent of the other parent could be considered child abduction. This can even be on a temporary basis (for example a holiday) as consent must be sought from the child(ren)’s other parent.

If you intend to remove your children permanently from the jurisdiction, then you will need the approval of all those with parental responsibility or an order of the court.

If you are concerned that your children may be removed from the jurisdiction then there are preventative measures that can be put in place urgently, if necessary.

Our Family Team have experience in child abduction work both here in the UK and internationally.

The courts take any matter relating to the removal of a child from the jurisdiction extremely seriously and it is essential you seek legal advice as soon as possible.
