Court of Protection

There are many reasons why an individual might not be able to manage their own affairs; perhaps as the result of a catastrophic injury, a degenerative condition or a disorder or disability they have.

If you have a relative or friend who sadly lacks the mental capacity to deal with their own affairs, then we can assist you in making an application to the Court of Protection to become that person’s Court Appointed Deputy. This gives you the authority to make financial or welfare decisions on behalf of the individual concerned.

Our sensitive and professional team of solicitors can advise you of the court process, draft and make a Deputyship application on your behalf, or deal with specific applications to the Court of Protection, for example the sale of property or preparation of statutory wills.

Taking on the responsibility of becoming a Deputy can be very stressful and time-consuming so if required, we can also assist you in managing a person’s affairs once the court order has been made.

O’Donnell Solicitors is committed to providing the highest quality of service to all of our clients. Our solicitors understand that the Court of Protection can seem complicated and issues surrounding mental capacity are often sensitive and upsetting. Our solicitors will do their best to explain things to you in a straight-forward way, helping you to make an informed decision.
